Commissions
Everything about commissioning a custom portrait.
What sizes are available for portrait commissions?
Portrait commissions are currently available in A3, A2, and A1. Pricing begins at $650 CAD for A3, $900 CAD for A2, and $1,400 CAD for A1.
Can I commission more than one horse in the same portrait?
Yes. The standard commission price includes one horse. Each additional horse adds 25% of the selected portrait size price.
Do you work only from photographs?
Most portraits are created from reference photographs. Clear, well-lit images that show the horse’s features and expression are ideal. If you are unsure whether your photographs will work, you are welcome to send them for review before booking.
Can you take the reference photographs yourself?
Yes, on-site reference sessions may be available for clients in the Greater Toronto Area and selected surrounding areas. This can be discussed during the inquiry process.
Can you combine details from different photographs?
In some cases, yes. Multiple photographs can be useful for understanding markings, expression, and structure. The final reference approach will depend on the quality and compatibility of the images provided.
Can you remove tack, people, or background elements from the reference image?
Usually, yes. Portraits are drawn with a clean background unless otherwise discussed, so unnecessary elements from the reference photograph do not need to appear in the finished piece.
Can I keep the portrait a surprise?
Absolutely. Progress updates are optional, so if the portrait is intended as a gift, the process can be kept private until completion.
How long does a commission take?
Turnaround time depends on the size, complexity, number of subjects, and current commission schedule. An estimated timeline will be provided before the booking is confirmed.
How do I book a commission?
Begin by sending an inquiry with a brief description of the portrait you have in mind, your preferred size, and any reference photographs you already have. Once the project is reviewed and confirmed, a $225 CAD non-refundable deposit secures the booking.

Artwork &
Delivery
Materials, framing, privacy, packaging, and delivery.
What do I receive with my portrait?
Each commission includes the original graphite portrait, a high-resolution digital scan, a complimentary postcard, a certificate of authenticity, and protective packaging.
Is the artwork framed?
Framing is not currently included unless specifically arranged as part of the project. This allows you to choose a frame that suits your space and personal style.
Do you ship artwork?
Yes. Shipping options and costs depend on the destination, artwork size, and order. Final shipping details will be confirmed before delivery.
Will my artwork be used online or in your portfolio?
Completed work may be shared as part of Dalia Alejandra’s portfolio or social media. If the piece is a surprise gift or you need the work to remain private for a period of time, please mention this when booking.

Stable Projects &
Multiple Horses
Details about larger projects and consistent multi-horse collections.
What is the difference between a regular commission and a Stable Project?
Regular commissions are designed for individual portrait clients and are available in larger A3, A2, and A1 formats. Stable Projects are designed for stables, barns, trainers, and equine businesses that want a consistent collection of multiple horse portraits, often with print-ready files or postcard quantities included as part of the wider project.
Is there a minimum for Stable Projects?
Yes. Initial Stable Projects begin with a minimum of five horses. Once a collection has been established, additional horses can be added individually over time.

Prints &
Other Projects
Prints, creative collaborations, and licensing.
Do you sell prints or postcards?
Yes. Selected graphite works are available as postcards, and larger fine art prints will be added as the collection develops.
Do you take on work that is not horse-related?
Yes. Although horses are central to Dalia’s practice, her work also includes portraiture, facial expression, food, observational studies, and selected scientific, educational, publishing, packaging, and other creative projects.
Can I contact you with an idea that does not fit neatly into one of the listed services?
Yes. If you have a project in mind, send a brief description of what you are developing and how you hope to use the artwork. Custom projects are considered individually based on scope and fit.
Can artwork be licensed for commercial or publishing use?
Yes. Licensing may be available for both existing artwork and custom projects, including publishing, packaging, educational material, and other commercial uses. Licensing terms are discussed based on the intended use of the work.
